I would say that in the medium of photography anything you take a picture of with the intent of creating art becomes art in and of itself. You as the artist choose how close to get to the wall of graffiti or the pipes. I LOVE to take pictures of abstract things and bring them to life. I took pictures of stairs today and a wall for 30 minutes today. it was beautiful. I think that because you as the photographer get to choose how much of an item is in the shot you choose and create the art. weather if its of a person or a graffiti ridden wall.

I think the difference comes when the picture is intended to create art or if it is taken to capture a memory.

are my art alley photos art, or simply photos of art in an Alley

I took photos while I was out of town (March 13-18) but neer the internet and my computer at the same time. So here are some pictures from Art Alley in Rapid City.

I guess this whole post poses the question as to wether these photographs are art or not. Is my taking a photograph (forming a composition of color and shape) of someone else's work, and then editing it really art? It was art in the public domain and I am not claiming the work as my own, so its not illegal or wrong, in any sense, but is it art? In regards to the pipes that I photographed now and previously, were they art when I went in the dark room developed the film and the images, then used various darkroom techniques, or are my pictures art now that others have altered them, are they even art in real life? Is the series of images of the pipes over time to crate a sense of time a body of art? I don't know, but here are my photographs from the past 6 days.

<img style="display:block;
