swirls
In my Drawing III class we are working with non-traditional media. I woke up one morning and started drawing on the condensation on my bedroom window. On the balcony that this leads to there was a black door. I took the photo so that the door was in the background. I actually think that this one was with a railing behind it. That is why it fades at the top and bottom.

Another Drain
This is an image from high school. I thought it was interesting. It was off between two doors into the building. there was a huge ant hill next to this. Anyone who knows me, knows that I absolutely loath ants. It was a scary picture to take. That is one thing about photography (I don't know if it is good or bad), nevertheless it is a thing about photography. Anyways, this thing, it is interesting that no one knows what I was thinking as I was taking this picture. It's not important to the story. Is there a story? Do I still need to create a story? Does the story come from a compilation of images such as this blog? I don't know any of these answers or even if they are important, but this photo made me think of them. It seems sad and lonely to me yet I was scared and having fun. I apologize ahead of time...I am not going to proof read this...

Responce to Felica
Because im 1,000 miles away I cant really tell my thoughts...
BUT I can respond. I would say that in the medium of photography anything you take a picture of with the intent of creating art becomes art in and of itself. You as the artist choose how close to get to the wall of graffiti or the pipes. I LOVE to take pictures of abstract things and bring them to life. I took pictures of stairs today and a wall for 30 minutes today. it was beautiful. I think that because you as the photographer get to choose how much of an item is in the shot you choose and create the art. weather if its of a person or a graffiti ridden wall.
I think the difference comes when the picture is intended to create art or if it is taken to capture a memory.

are my art alley photos art, or simply photos of art in an Alley
I took photos while I was out of town (March 13-18) but neer the internet and my computer at the same time. So here are some pictures from Art Alley in Rapid City.
I guess this whole post poses the question as to wether these photographs are art or not. Is my taking a photograph (forming a composition of color and shape) of someone else's work, and then editing it really art? It was art in the public domain and I am not claiming the work as my own, so its not illegal or wrong, in any sense, but is it art? In regards to the pipes that I photographed now and previously, were they art when I went in the dark room developed the film and the images, then used various darkroom techniques, or are my pictures art now that others have altered them, are they even art in real life? Is the series of images of the pipes over time to crate a sense of time a body of art? I don't know, but here are my photographs from the past 6 days.
The Music Lives!
An over turned trash can in downtown Rapid (I don't remember where).
This guy looked ridiculous. I saw the cigarettes a couple feet away and it seemed like he could have at one pint been holding a cig. I thought it was interesting to juxtapose the 3-D object and the 2-D image.
An interesting example of how art alley morphs (the tore background paper and the peeling sign, also the spray paint over top). That thing in the lower right hand corner of the image is a dumpster. It seems like there must be a deeper poetic meaning behind this scene as well (I haven't figured it out). Any ideas?
The mosaic pieces were interesting. I really didn't do the best at photographing the tiles, but then again I didn't really try. I still like this.
I really like the shape that the black creates among the brightly colored background.

This guy is one of the many B-E-A-Utiful orchids that can be found at the UW green house and herborium on campus. It is right by the Aven Nelson building and adjacent to Old Main. I think the hours are from 10-4. I like this photo because the lines and the colors pop. I dont know how else to describe it.
